Wind can’t survive without PTC

The wind production tax credit (PTC) supports as much as 30% of the wind industry’s cost – and is equivalent to 50% to 70% of the wholesale price of electricity. But we keep hearing that wind energy is “competitive” with coal.

With the PTC in place, wind energy producers could (literally) give the energy they produce away for free and they would still make a profit because of the massive direct subsidies they receive from taxpayers.

Lets get rid of the subsidies, let the production tax credit expire, and let energy resources compete on a level playing field.
