Manchin’s message: Some “facts about coal”

Senator Manchin’s July 22 message is a powerful reminder about the “facts of coal.” In it he discusses some of the popular misconceptions about coal, the costs of the war on coal, and why he voted against Gina McCarthy as the head of the EPA.

But the foremost reason for my speech last week was the fact that the Obama Administration’s global climate plan is rooted in provisions aimed at regulating the coal industry out of existence.

The Administration’s plan is short-sighted, ignoring the fact that coal is America’s most abundant, most reliable and most affordable source of energy, and it will be for decades to come.
