SNL: Top-producing CAPP mines up production
Despite a host of regulatory and economic pressures, the 25 top-producing Central Appalachian coal mines were able to increase production by 9.8% in Q4 of 2013 (compared to Q4 of 2012).
U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration data analyzed by SNL Energy shows coal production at the top-producing Central Appalachia mines was about 10.4 million tons in the fourth quarter, up from 9.5 million tons in the comparable period in 2012. Full-year production rose to 44.1 million tons in 2013 compared to 40.9 million tons in 2012.
